Welcome to:
As a graduate of Skipper B, you are offered access to the regular, on-going classes for refresher training in the Skipper B courses offered 8-10 times per year. You can attend, at no cost. There are several benefits to attending: (1) refreshing your knowledge participating in the classroom instruction, (2) getting on the water as a student-coach with the newcomers to Skipper B, and (3) fostering a “sailing community” at Mulberry Cove.
In recent months, I’ve noticed increasing numbers of Skipper B graduates joining in class sessions. This participation wins praise from our Sailing Instructors. From my perspective, I see energy and shared experiences contributing to advancing interest in sailing at Mulberry Cove. Several of these encounters have also led to arranging Skipper/Crew sailing trips so sailors can reinforce their skills with other graduates. If you’ve ever noticed the pennants in the Mulberry Cove marina office, there’s a heritage of sail racing and active engagement by sailors, particularly among active duty Navy personnel. Our circle of sailors continues to widen as Skipper B/ASA 101 classes are filling up and graduates look for opportunities to sail. I hope you find a comfortable way to participate in our “sailing community” at Sail NASJax. We are all better for the chance to share our enjoyment of the sport! See you on the water, Eric Wester / Sail NASJax

Use this Blog to let other sailors know that you are looking for partners to sail with you. Be sure to give some way to contact you in case you do not see their post in a timely manner (be advised that this is not a secure website so limit any personal information in your post).
Whether you are a new Skipper B Graduate or an "Ol' Salty Dog" with years of sailing recorded in your Captain's Sailing log, we all have stories that are fun to share. Sailors learn from other sailor's experiences - accomplishments or errors in the craft. So if you have a story you would like to share with your fellow Club Members, don't hesitate to add it to this Blog!
Despited Mother Nature's best efforts, SNJC members managed to get in a few hours of sailing without getting rained on during our June Club meeting! Skippers Eric and Augie in one FS and the other boat had Bill and Bill (Staples, Townsend). Met up with another sailor, Gerry, who was in a third boat. After chatting with him at the marina, he has become our newest member!
As we were saying our good-byes, the rain started to fall. Looks like we timed that just right! The SNJC is back under sail and looking for new members to join the crew! Our initial meeting took place on 22 May at the Mulberry Cove Marina, with just a handful of previous members in attendance and one new member. The positive responses of members, along with the new lower HPCON level on NAS Jax, is the momentum we needed to start regular meetings. The Club is setting a course to hold meetings every 3rd Saturday, but there will be adjustments to that based on others events, holidays, etc. Big Thank You to Skipper Eric Wester (the Club's ad-hoc Operations Officer) for putting the schedule together. Additionally, the Mulberry Cove Marina will start hosting sailing lessons and other events in the near future. Plans are already in the works for these events and we will be posting them on the SNJC calendar starting today. The best place to see everything thats happening will be the Club calendar. If you see something that interests you, submit an RSVP so we know you're coming!
Hope to see you soon! Skipper Bill SNJC Comm Officer Ahoy Sailors! The pandemic of 2020 put this Club on hiatus like a sailboat on the hard. For the past year, it has been silently waiting for the day it would be dropped back in the water and made ready to get underway. A lot has happened since we last met and there are still some protocols to be worked out, but I am happy to announce that the Club is looking to get back on the water and do what we all want to do...SAIL!
Much like the sailboat I referred to, the Club needs to get a few things done before we can get back on the water. **We need to reach out to former members and those who had contacted the Club since its last meeting, find out who is still in the area and determine the level of interest. **We need to work with the Marina (and MWR staff) to determine what we are/aren't allowed to do with regards to meetings, sailing, events, etc. **We will need to develop protocols for our meetings that fit within NAS Jax requirements and provide for safe, healthy activities for all Club members. **We will need members to fill key positions, which means having elections (virtually or in-person) early on so they can then assume the responsibilities of those positions. There is much more to be done, but I know that I'm ready to get this Club back underway. Please reach out if you're ready to join me in getting Sail NAS Jax off the hard. Email is [email protected].
